NIRYO RELAUNCHES INDUSTRIAL ROBOTICS IN FRANCE AND UNVEILS NED

With more than 1,300 robots sold around the world since 2017, Niryo has recently raised 3 million euros to accelerate the launch of its industrial robotics solution and its new collaborative robot for use in education and training. Niryo has reorganized to create a new division, Industry 4.0.

LILLE – 9 FEBRUARY 2021

Niryo made a name for itself with the launch of the Niryo One, a 6-axis robot designed for universities, training centers and R&D in 2017. This start-up based in the north of France received an enthusiastic response to this 3D-printed open-source robot that includes an ecosystem featuring software, vision, a conveyor belt and several grippers. More than 1,300 Niryo robots are already operational in 32 countries to simulate the industrial environment of Industry 4.0.

3 MILLION EUROS TO GO EVEN FURTHER

Thus far, Niryo’s development has been the result of its successful commercial strategy, with 100% self-funded annual growth in turnover. In December 2020, for the first time, the company called for external investments in order to boost its product development, maintain its technological advantage and increase its international presence. The company is also about to open a second office in the French city of Orléans to strengthen its sales team.

Today, Niryo is accelerating and has raised €3 million from Loire Valley Invest (Go Capital), Nord Création, Nord France Amorçage, Finorpa and BPI France.

“In addition to boosting Ned’s launch, this fundraising will help us to accelerate the market launch of an industrial solution that we’ve worked on for several years with renowned companies like Bonduelle.”
Marc-Henri Frouin, founder of Niryo

NED: TRAINING AND EXPERIENCING INDUSTRY 4.0

This 6-axis robotic arm was launched in January 2021. Based on open-source technologies, Ned features an aluminum structure and has more computing power to answer to the new challenges of industrial IoT and AI, as well as being a part of Industry 4.0.

Ned’s aluminum structure makes it impressively robust, so it can effortlessly perform any movements requested by robotics projects. With Ned, Niryo offers a more comprehensive and robust version of its first 6-axis robot, the Niryo One.

Featuring multiple improvements, Ned is designed to reproduce all of the movements required for the most advanced uses in Industry 4.0, with a precision and repeatability of 0.5 mm. It takes full advantage of Raspberry Pi 4’s capabilities, with a high-performance 64-bit ARMv8 processor, 2GB RAM and improved connectivity.

“We developed this robot to better respond to current and future demands: training operators, training students and providing researchers with new-generation robotics. We are definitely aiming for a significant share of this market around the world and our company is now commercially structured to achieve this objective.”
Marc-Henri Frouin, founder of Niryo

Niryo designs and assembles its robots in Lille but also develops programming interfaces (Niryo Studio) and robotic intelligence (vision, AI) to enable anyone to understand robotics (it takes a few minutes to program a sequence of movements and actions). An integrated camera allows to pick up items of the desired shape or color.

The desktop application Niryo Studio is a key factor in the success of Niryo’s robots with its intuitive interface that eases the use of robotics for students and employees. It provides a quick and affordable solution for the learning or research facility.

Niryo boasts a solid international distribution network which it develops its reputation with, made up of more than 25 partners; this network represents the extension of its own sales team at a local level and its partners include RS Components and Génération Robots in France.

THE RENAISSANCE OF FRENCH INDUSTRIAL ROBOTICS

Niryo wants to go even further. The company’s successful fundraising and excellent financial results mean that it will be able to focus its efforts on the industrial market with a simple concept: making cobotics accessible.

“Niryo’s mission is to empower operators with robots that are easy to use. We spent more than 3 years focusing on companies’ genuine needs and the latest trends in research. This has meant we can concentrate on this market by offering genuine added value in response to the new challenge of Industry 4.0: customisation and the ability to provide industrial production in small quantities…” says Marc-Henri Frouin, founder of Niryo.

As such, by the end of 2021, Niryo will launch a cobotics solution designed for Industry 4.0 for end-of-line packaging and aims to revolutionize access to robotics for companies. It will be marketed by Niryo’s newly created Industry 4.0 division and will benefit from international partnerships that contribute to the company’s truly global presence.

A NEW FRENCH LEADER ON THE INDUSTRIAL COBOTICS MARKET: NIRYO UNVEILS A NEW RANGE OF PRODUCTS IN 2021
In a world where countries have an increasing desire to reindustrialize and to produce locally, Niryo’s mission is to democratize robotics, and it aims to become one of the leading companies in collaborative robotics around the world. After a fundraising of 3 million euros, Niryo is now preparing to launch an industrial robotic solution which the company has worked on for several years with renowned companies like Bonduelle.

LILLE – 9 FEBRUARY 2021

Its products are used in 32 countries by universities, research centers and very famous companies. Renowned for its 6-axis robot the Niryo One, which is ideal for research and robotics training, the Lille-based company Niryo (which has thus far enjoyed 100% self-funded annual growth) is now accelerating its development with a fundraising of 3 million euros which was held last December. The company is also about to open a second office in the French city of Orléans to strengthen its sales team.

“This fundraising will allow us to accelerate the market launch of a solution that we’ve been working on for several years with renowned companies like Bonduelle.”

REINDUSTRIALIZATION, DEMOCRATIZATION OF ROBOTICS, LOCAL PRODUCTION

In 2021, Niryo will be coming to factories and warehouses with a new solution that includes a robotic arm, the latest vision tools, an AI algorithm and a cloud platform. This cobotic cell is pre-configured/pre-trained for end-of-line packaging.

Niryo has developed a technology that’s quick to roll out and easy for operators to reprogram. This technology is based on a modular system designed to fit industrial clients needs as it can be adapted to new speciications as quickly as possible.

The market needs a more agile solution and Niryo has been working on this technology since 2018 to ensure factory availability in the last quarter of 2021.

“We’re experiencing a real transformation of the market; everyone is aware of the societal and environmental challenges we are facing. Mass production on the other side of the world no longer makes sense. We’ve got to reindustrialize our own countries. Niryo wants to make robotics accessible by making it smarter and more collaborative with people.”
Marc-Henri Frouin, founder of Niryo
